Chelsea are facing a race against the clock to reshape their squad as Xabi Alonso gets set for the Premier League curtain-raiser.
The Blues begin their new top-flight season at Fulham on Monday evening, yet concerns persist about the composition of the squad. Alonso has already implemented several significant adjustments, though further movement could occur before long, particularly involving Enzo Fernandez.
The Argentina international has attracted interest from Manchester City, but the Sky Blues failed to meet Chelsea’s £120million valuation before the deadline passed. However, with the transfer market remaining open until September 1, late developments cannot be ruled out.
